In the Valley this frequently comes in below the outgoing unit's tonnage, and that is the correct outcome: right-sized equipment runs longer cycles, controls monsoon humidity, and does not wear itself out on start count.

A static pressure and return capacity measurement on the existing duct system. This is the step most homeowners have never had done and the one that determines whether new equipment can actually deliver. If the ducts cannot support the required airflow, you hear it before the project starts and the correction is quoted separately and openly.

Then equipment selection: a rated match of condenser, indoor coil, and blower, with efficiency tier and staging chosen against your budget and how long you plan to stay. We show the options with real numbers rather than steering you to one tier.

Protection and removal first: floors and work paths covered, refrigerant recovered legally from the old system, electrical and refrigerant lines safely disconnected, and the old equipment removed and hauled away.

Then setting and connecting. The condenser goes on a level pad or bracket with proper service clearance and away from roof runoff. Indoor equipment gets correct support, clearance, and drainage — for attic installations that means a platform, a drain pan, and a secondary drain, because an attic air handler with a plugged primary drain is a ceiling repair waiting to happen. The line set is brazed with a nitrogen purge to prevent internal oxidation, plenum transitions are sealed with mastic, electrical is run to code with a dedicated disconnect, condensate is trapped and terminated legally, and thermostat wiring is verified end to end.

Then the two steps that separate real installations from fast ones: a deep vacuum evacuation to pull moisture and non-condensables out of the refrigerant circuit, and refrigerant weighed in to the manufacturer's charge and then verified by superheat and subcooling in actual operating conditions. Neither is visible on day one, and both determine how the compressor lives.

We run the system and record the numbers: total external static pressure, airflow, temperature split across the coil, superheat and subcooling, and compressor and fan amp draw against nameplate. Then we balance registers, confirm thermostat configuration, and verify safety controls and the condensate float switch.

You receive those readings, the permit and code inspection documentation, the manufacturer warranty registered in your name, our written workmanship warranty, and a walkthrough covering filter size and interval, thermostat operation, and what maintenance the system needs and when.

If a contractor cannot hand you commissioning numbers, there is no baseline for the system's life and no evidence the installation met specification. Ask every contractor you talk to for them — including us.
