Gas furnace with an AC condenser suits homes with existing gas service and a preference for warm supply air in winter. Heat pump systems handle both heating and cooling from one outdoor unit and are an excellent fit for the Valley's mild heating season — no gas line needed, and efficiency is highest in exactly the temperature range Phoenix winters occupy.

Package units — a single cabinet on the roof or a ground pad — are the standard where there is no indoor equipment space, which covers many mid-century Phoenix and Mesa homes and most manufactured housing. Ductless is the answer for additions, casitas, garage conversions, and homes with no ductwork at all.

We recommend based on your home rather than on inventory: existing infrastructure, indoor equipment space, duct condition, how the home is used, and how long you plan to stay. If a heat pump is the better fit than what you had, we will say so, and if a straightforward like-for-like replacement is right, we will say that too.

A Manual J load calculation using your actual square footage, ceiling heights, glazing area and orientation, insulation, infiltration, and Phoenix design temperatures. It routinely lands below the outgoing equipment's tonnage, and that is correct: oversized systems in this climate short cycle, fail to remove humidity during monsoon weeks, and wear out compressors on start count rather than run hours.

Then matching. Condenser, indoor coil, and blower must be a rated combination, and airflow needs to land near 350 to 400 CFM per ton. A high-efficiency condenser paired with a mismatched coil delivers neither its rated efficiency nor its full warranty terms.

Then the duct check, which is the step that separates a real installation from a swap. We measure total external static pressure and return capacity before quoting. If the duct system cannot support the airflow the new equipment needs, we tell you before installation and quote the correction as part of the project — rather than discovering it at commissioning and leaving you with it.

Most single-system residential installations complete in one day; projects with duct corrections, electrical upgrades, new line sets, or rooftop work run into a second. We protect flooring and work paths, remove and dispose of the old equipment, and set new equipment with correct clearances, support, and drainage — critical for attic installations, which need a platform, pan, and secondary drain.

Connections done properly: line set brazed with nitrogen purge, evacuated to a real vacuum so no moisture or non-condensables remain, refrigerant weighed in and then verified, electrical to code with a dedicated disconnect, condensate with a proper trap and legal termination, plenum transitions sealed with mastic, and thermostat wiring verified end to end.

Commissioning is where the job is proven and where most installations quietly fail. We record static pressure, airflow, temperature split, superheat and subcooling, amp draws, and — on gas equipment — temperature rise and combustion analysis. You get those numbers, the permit and inspection paperwork, the registered manufacturer warranty, and a walkthrough of filter size, thermostat operation, and maintenance intervals.
